Get Ready for CWGA Golf in Charbonneau

As the snowbirds plan their trips “home” to Charbonneau, CWGA is gearing up for another year of fun golf and events.

Welcome New Members

CWGA is happy to welcome several new members.  Cathi McLain, Claudia Ostrem, Victoria Mendenhall, Judy Bruce, Kathy Budnick, and Kathy Gaibler.

New Members Featured this Month

Cathi McLain

Cathi McLain and her husband John, moved to Charbonneau in November of 2013 after downsizing from their longtime home in Lake Oswego.  They moved to Oregon in 1981 with their two children.  Cathi worked in agriculture for most of her career, first as a home economist with Sunkist Growers in California, and then as a consultant to commodity commissions and food processors and later in marketing for the Oregon Department of Agriculture.  She ended her full time employment in 2008 as executive director of a national nonprofit organization that focused on consumer trends.  She still works for the local chapter.  She is a newsletter editor and writer.  Cathi also volunteers at the visitor center at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge and plays golf and tennis whenever she can.  She is a member of the RedTailNiners.  Cathi is looking forward to being part of the Charbonneau community and we are glad to welcome her to CWGA!

Victoria Mendenhall

Victoria and her husband David have lived in Charbonneau nearly 18 years and enjoy many of the activities, especially golf and cards, offered by the community, as well as bible study and travel.  They have 4 adult married children and 8 grandchildren between them.  Victoria and her husband work as active realtors and have done so since 1998.  She serves on the Board of Open Arms International, a Christian non-profit organization, serving orphaned children in Kenya, Africa.  She previously was a member with the Niners for the last two years.  Welcome, Victoria!

Judy Bruce

Judy and her husband Jack, moved to Charbonneau last year in order to downsize to one floor.  Judy volunteers at the Wilsonville Library and is a member of St. Francis Church. They remodeled their home on Village Crest Lane inside and out…whew!  They were members of Tualatin Country Club for many years and now look forward to playing here at Charbonneau.  Judy’s other passions are her family, gardening, bridge and reading…pretty standard diversions for a retired lady!  She looks forward to meeting all the golfers and reports that ShirleeVallo will be her Big Sister when she returns from Arizona.  Welcome Judy, and we will all be your “Big Sisters” until Shirlee returns!

Portland Golf Show

Chris Bensel, Charbonneau Golf Club’s hardworking Pro, coordinated a terrific and very successful booth at this year’s Portland Golf Show.  The booth was one of the most popular and widely visited booths at this year’s show!  Chris and many volunteers from the men and womens’ golf clubs, as well as many members of the Charbonneau community, worked hard to make sure our golf club is the place to play golf.  Thank you to Chris and all the volunteers!
