The holiday season is in full swing, and with it the season of giving. Charbonneau residents have a reputation for generosity, offering financial and volunteer support to a variety of community organizations. CWGA generosity is no exception. Members donate time and money to the Geese Guys program, help to support the Golf Club’s scholarship programs for young employees, donate time and products to the Pink Ball Tournament, and generously contribute their time and talents to Junior Golf programs. Happy Holidays to all, and may your giving be equal to the joy you receive.

MEMBERS LOUNGE IS PRIMO!

If you haven’t done so, check out the new and improved members lounge next to The Turn and the Pro Shop. There’s a place for everything and every club has their niche. Kudos for the care with which the space was designed.

RULES OF GOLF SIMPLIFIED

Most of us would view as a significant gift, the news that the R&A and the USGA have established a special project to assess whether and how the Rules of Golf might be simplified and clarified. According to USGA, “the project arose from the recognition that the effort to be precise, comprehensive and fair in continuous revisions to the Rules over the years has made the Rules lengthy, complex, technical and, for too many, confusing.” They go on to say that the “primary objectives are to make the Rules easier to read, understand and apply by golfers at all levels – whether experts, beginners or ordinary players and whether the play is competitive or social – and wherever the game is played. The objective of Rules Modernization is more than how the Rules are written, it is also about identifying ways to improve how the Rules are distributed and consumed.” This includes improving digital access, use of images and videos, and to improve pace of play and enhance environmental stewardship. That will be a great gift to all golfers!
